Keep Your Amherst Home Cool with a Professional AC Tune Up

When the New Hampshire summer rolls in, the last thing you want is to discover your air conditioning system isn’t ready for the heat. A seasonal AC tune up is one of the smartest investments you can make in your home’s comfort, and at Paul the Plumber, we’ve built our reputation on delivering thorough, reliable HVAC maintenance to homeowners throughout Amherst, NH and the surrounding communities. As a family owned and operated business with 22 years of experience serving the region, we understand exactly what it takes to keep your cooling system running at peak efficiency through the warmest months of the year.

An AC tune up isn’t just a quick once-over. It’s a comprehensive inspection and service designed to catch small problems before they become expensive breakdowns. Our licensed and background checked technicians follow a detailed multi-point process that addresses every critical component of your cooling system, from the refrigerant levels to the electrical connections, ensuring everything is operating safely and efficiently before the demand of summer hits.

What’s Included in Our Comprehensive AC Tune Up

When you schedule an AC tune up with our team, you can expect a methodical inspection that leaves no component overlooked. We approach every system with the same attention to detail, whether it’s a brand-new high-efficiency unit or an older system that has served a family for over a decade. Our goal is always to extend equipment life, improve efficiency, and prevent unexpected failures during peak cooling season.

Here’s what our technicians address during a standard AC tune up visit:

  • Refrigerant Level Check. We measure refrigerant pressure to ensure your system has the proper charge, which directly affects cooling capacity and energy efficiency.
  • Coil Cleaning and Inspection. Both the evaporator and condenser coils are inspected and cleaned to remove dirt buildup that reduces heat transfer and forces your system to work harder.
  • Electrical Component Testing. We test capacitors, contactors, relays, and wiring connections, tightening anything that has loosened from vibration and replacing worn components before failure.
  • Thermostat Calibration. Your thermostat is checked for accuracy and proper communication with the system to confirm it’s reading and responding to temperature correctly.
  • Condensate Drain Clearing. Clogged drain lines can cause water damage and humidity problems, so we flush and inspect the entire drainage path.
  • Blower Motor and Fan Inspection. Proper airflow is essential, so we examine blower components, lubricate moving parts where applicable, and verify amperage draw.
  • Air Filter Evaluation. We check your existing filter and recommend replacement intervals based on your specific household conditions.

Why Amherst Homeowners Need Regular AC Maintenance

Amherst homes face a unique combination of climate challenges. Our winters are long and harsh, which means AC systems often sit dormant for many months before being called back into action. During that downtime, dust accumulates, seals can dry out, small animals sometimes find their way into outdoor units, and components can degrade in ways homeowners would never notice. A spring tune up addresses all of these issues before you flip the thermostat to cool for the first time.

Beyond the seasonal considerations, regular maintenance has real financial benefits. A well-maintained AC unit can use 15 to 20 percent less energy than a neglected one, which translates directly to lower electric bills throughout June, July, and August. Manufacturers also typically require documented annual maintenance to honor warranty claims, so skipping tune ups can leave you on the hook for repairs that should have been covered. We’re happy to provide detailed service documentation for your records.

Why Choose Paul the Plumber for Your AC Tune Up

We’ve been serving Amherst and the greater southern New Hampshire region for over two decades, and during that time we’ve earned a reputation built on integrity, reliability, and genuine care for our customers. We’re BBB accredited with an A+ rating, and we have thousands of verified five-star reviews across multiple review platforms. That kind of consistent feedback doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from treating customers like family, every single visit.

We also believe in transparency from the moment we arrive at your door. We offer up front pricing so you know exactly what your service will cost before any work begins. There are no surprise charges, no upsells designed to inflate your invoice, and no pressure tactics. If our technician identifies an issue during your tune up, we’ll explain what we found, show you the evidence, and discuss your options clearly so you can make the decision that’s right for your home and budget.

Every piece of work we perform is backed by our two year parts and labor warranty, which is among the strongest guarantees in the industry. If you become a club member with us, that warranty extends to three years parts and labor, along with additional benefits like priority scheduling and discounted service. Our membership program is designed for homeowners who want to stay ahead of maintenance rather than reacting to breakdowns.

Real-World Benefits You’ll Notice Right Away

After a professional AC tune up, most homeowners notice immediate improvements in their system’s performance. Rooms cool down faster, the system cycles less frequently, and indoor humidity levels stay more consistent. You may also notice quieter operation, since loose components and dirty fans often produce subtle noises that disappear once everything is cleaned and tightened properly.

Air quality is another area where tune ups deliver tangible results. A clean coil and properly functioning filter system mean fewer airborne particles circulating through your home, which makes a real difference for families dealing with allergies or asthma. For households with pets, young children, or elderly family members, this benefit alone often justifies the cost of annual service.

Arrived as scheduled to fix a leak from the shower valve. Tried to fix old 30 or 40 year old unit but had to replace with a new one. Quality work, parts and cleaned up when they were done. Would definitely use again.

We’re first time home owners and needed help with some plumbing and adding a filter system. They were able to get a technician scheduled to our house within a day or so of me contacting them. Mike was super helpful and was able to complete all the jobs in a timely manner, and also cleaned up the areas he was working in. Overall a great experience and would definitely use them for future jobs.

DJ from PTP was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. My shower was not draining and it became a bigger project than I thought it would and they came out quickly and were able to fix my problem. Then when my water heater had a slow leak they came back out quickly to attend to it and fix my problem. I really appreciate their hard work. Thank you so much!! Would definitely recommend them.

What a fantastic business. Helped us work with our water district in resolving meter replacement issues. They also fixed a pipe leak that had developed over time. Caleb was wonderful and answered our questions as well as working with the water district engineer on the meter issues. So easy to work with.

I would recommend Paul the Plumber 100%. They offered same/next day service. They were friendly, professional and quick – from the office staff to the technicians. Overall an amazing experience from start to finish.

John was wonderful. He found the problem right away and fixed it. He checked other outlets just to make sure I would be safe. He explained different programs the company offers also. I’m very happy.

First time customer, and am very pleased with the whole experience. The highlight was definitely with the technicians assigned to the job and their work – Tyree and Corey were clean, polite, well-informed, and very helpful with some of the questions I had along the way. Their work appears to be top-notch, and they made sure no mess was left behind. Will definitely be calling and requesting these two again on any future needs.

Michele

I’ve used Paul the Plumber twice now for electrical issues and they have been wonderful each time. They are fast, polite, knowledgeable, and very fairly priced. They explain everything well and answer my questions thoroughly and I feel safer now knowing what was causing my electrical issues and having it fixed! I will be using Paul the Plumber for all my household needs going forward

S. Baraket

Never used Paul The plumber company before but I’m glad I did. Very courteous, professional and pleasant from the answering service (Diane) to employees (Jeremy). They diagnosed the problem and fixed it in no time. Very happy and satisfied with their service. Definitely will use again. Thank you

These are the after photos of the Rinnai tankless water heater installation and vent to the outside. It was important to me that the crew was able to use the existing vent hole to the outside to run both the intake vent pipe and the outside vent pipe. It made the job very clean and did not change the appearance of the outside wall. A shout out to Mike E, Caleb, Josh & Corey

D. Marchand

I cannot say enough about this company!!! Their only concern is that you are up and running again with no worries. I’ve had Kyle the plumber, and Josh their electrician out here and both are polite, well trained and you can tell they truly care about getting you back in service. Great service, well trained caring staff! I will never go anywhere else!

M. Richdale

Thanks to Mike Vallee from Paul the Plumber for responding to this new customer’s call so quickly. He was courteous, thorough, explained the repair he was doing and left the work area spotless. I highly recommend Paul the Plumber (and Mike!) to anyone looking for a reliable plumbing company.

S. DesMarais

Josh was amazing. He was able to install my ring doorbells with no issues. He also did a great check of my homes smoke detectors and a few electrical plugs. He was thorough, Knowledgeable, and easy to work with. I would definitely use them again.

V. Vincze

We had an issue with our water…too hard, calcium deposits, and very little pressure in our master bathroom shower only. The techs (Mike E. & Tyler S.) arrived right on time. They were friendly and very personable. After installing our whole house filtration system and successfully finding the issue with our master bathroom, they left the work areas in pristine condition. They were meticulous in their work, and I highly recommend them for any plumbing needs!

W. Chepren

I made an appointment on line the morning of July 31 and two trucks showed up at 1:00 pm right on time that same afternoon. Both guys were friendly and very knowledgeable. They quickly found the source of the wet patch on my ceiling which wasn’t the plumbing but a problem with the shower curtain. This is the second time I have called Paul. Both times I got outstanding service and will always call on Paul the Plumber for any plumbing problems in the future. Very reasonable cost for the visit.

Nick Boudreux

Had a well pump that was shorting out and pretty much had no water. Adrian from this company not only got out next day but was great to work with. He was very friendly and knowledgeable I would definitely recommend this company to anyone that needs work done! Thanks again guys!
