Derry is home to several neighborhood parks and hiking trails. Check out popular spots like Island Pond, featuring over 530 acres of water for boating, fishing, and kayaking. You can also hit the surrounding trails to hike, ski, or snowshoe.
Gallien’s Town Beach is another popular water recreation area with a sand beach, snack bar, fishing dock, and picnic tables. It’s only open to Derry residents and requires an entrance fee.
More of a hiker? Head over to Rockingham Recreational Trail, providing 18 miles of trail through peaceful wetlands and forest. Visitors come here to hike, bike, ride horseback. In the winter it’s open for cross-country skiing, mushing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing.

Step back through history when you visit the many historical sites throughout Derry and the surrounding areas.
There’s the Robert Frost Farm, where the beloved poet wrote many of his most famous works.
The Taylor Mill State Historic Site offers a glimpse into how an up-and-down sawmill worked—it is one of the last remaining mills of its kind still in operation.

Love to shop local? Thanks to a group of passionate volunteers, the Derry Homegrown Farm & Artisan Market is the first and only farmer’s market in town! Stop by for fresh produce, meats, dairy, and baked goods. You’ll also find one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces for the home. The farmer’s market is open during the summer season in downtown Derry.
